So I am on my way San Antonio. I have waited for a long time for today. But first, there is part of the journey that I need to tell a bit about.

I left Victoria around 2:00 PM Texas Time, so I could take a few pictures along the way.
The cactus that you saw on the front of this post is that of a Texas Prickly Pear Cactus. This is probably the most dominant of all the cactus types we have in Texas. Such plants have played a significant role in Texas development. They have been used since pre-history for a variety of purposes ranging from tools (needles and rope can be made from Cactus), as food stuff (The Spanish and Indians took the thorns off and ate the "Nopalitas" for food, and for medicinal purposes. Some parts of Texas have been described as places where even the plants can "bite". I suspect they are talking about the Cacti.
Cuero (Wildflower Capital of Texas) is one of the towns that grew from Indianola's destruction (see yesterday's post). It has a very diverse population and has played a significant part in the history of Texas. I think it is a beautiful and quaint old Texas town. Maybe you can come here and visit someday. The wild flowers that the area is famous for are now in bloom but not yet at their peak. It was a lovely drive never the less.
At 4:30 PM, I was driving down Houston Street in San Antonio. Just past the old Majestic Theater, I spotted one of the wait persons for the Houston Street Restaurant Bistro. I shouted out to him and he told me where to park my car. It's almost time now. I will see you inside.
