There are few lovlier sites than a beautiful Texas sunset. This was taken Monday afternoon, near Whitney, Texas. It was on my way to Clifton, Texas where my Mom lives. I was trying to get into this part of Texas early enough to get a couple of pictures of some of the old Lutheran Churches in the area. The area around Clifton and Norse is known as the Norwegian capital of Texas.
This area still has many inhabitants of Norwegian descent, that settled in this area of Texas in the early 1800s. Many of the customs of the old country are carried on to this day. I love the old churches because the represent a symbol of community. I think this week is a good time to think about community. Not just the physical community but the community of peers and friends that so many of us have experienced on the net with Webheads. When Vance and his family appeared on my IM screen earlier today, I felt like I had gotten a message from my brother....not my biological brother (I'll see him in a couple of days) but my brother in beliefs and in ideals.
As you can guess from the photo. I did not get to the churches before the sun went down. Maybe when I come back through here on my way home later this week, I will have a second chance to take some photos.

Dear Elderbob, it's not really fair to send such lovely pictures to be wishfully admired by us freezing Scandinavians ;-)
Wish I were there with all of you webheads!
Hugs!

Thanks for sharing the beauty of your city and countryside with us, Elderbob. I look forward to meeting you and all the webheads later at the Fiesta.
Big hug from Argentina
